I am the co-founder of Lifelong Health and Fitness. I have struggled with weight loss since childhood. I was a competitive swimmer starting from the 3rd grade through high school. I swam 6 days a week between 2.5 and 3 miles a day. Daily swimming kept me lean. I quit swimming after high school, and this when my weight really got out of control. Growing up, I really hadn't learned eating habits that would allow me to maintain my weight in the absense of intense physical activity. I really don't do well with a sedentary lifestyle, but working in an office environment with frequent meetings, I spend most of my days sitting. I've found ways to incorporate activity into my regular day by commuting by bicycle, waking up early to workout in our home gym, and taking the stairs over the elevator whenever I can. An important factor in maintaining the ideal weight is diet. As a vegetarian with a body type that naturally produces cholesterol and a family history of diabetes, my food choices are limited. Futhermore, men from the indian subcontinent have coronary arteries that are 1/3 the size of the the rest of the population. All of these factors have led me to experiment with my daily diet, finding foods that lower cholesterol, keep me alert, and provide enough energy to last me throughout my day.
I don't think my experiences are unique. I am looking forward to sharing some of my experiences and knowledge with others and hopefully learn better ways to achieve lifelong health and fitness.

I am the founder of Lifelong Health & Fitness. I have lived an active lifestyle my entire adult life, enjoying running and going to the gym. I thought I was healthy, ate well and was strong, however 6 years ago, I was diagosed with two conditions which changed my world. Chiari 1 Malformation with Syringomelia and a secondary diagnosis - a suspicous pancreatic cyst. It was a scary time as there was not much info about my conditions. I underwent cranial decompression surgery with duraplasty and laminectomy - a four hour brain surgery to stop further damage of Chiari. It was successful, but I was left weak. I could no longer run and had instability in my head and neck. I had to rebuild muscles. I changed my diet and reduced my exposure to chemicals. Six years later, I am a Beachbody PiYo Live Coach and completed a Tough Mudder 5k. This journey was a tough one for me, but one that made me incredibly stronge, both inside and out.
My goal for Lifelong Health & Fitness is to share the learning from my journey with others and give back.
